Be Realistic… Dream

Nickology

Welcome to the visionary world of Nick Breakspear and his creative Art ensemble, known as ‘Breakspear Inc’. The ‘Inc’ part of the ‘Breakspear Inc’ nom de plume, refers to all those ‘included’ playmates who have aided and abetted Nick in painting his fresh pictures for over three decades.

Through music, film, and blogs, Nick is able to share his offbeat journey from a Jesus-following  perspective. A creative quest that’s drawn him and his fellow sojourners to many far-flung places around the globe, where they’ve recorded whatever was in front of them.

First and foremost Nick employs his music video storytelling approach to try and make sense of life’s crazy events encountered on his journey. Which earnestly began back in 2005 when he was asked a showstopping question in Jerusalem by an 85-year-old Holocaust survivor called Valerie who said;

“What do you see?”

Ever since, he’s been trying to apply that soul-searching phrase to his own ongoing pilgrimage. Which has taken him to some of the most beautiful as well as precarious locations on our unstable planet. There he has shared the same waves and clambered over the same piles of rubble as some of our less fortunate fellow human beings. Many of them fleeing war-torn conflicts — both at home and abroad.

These disturbing encounters proved to be just what he needed to teach him what that ancient Native American proverb instructs us;

“Do not judge a man until you have walked two moons in his moccasins”

Thanks to these perspective-altering experiences, sent to help us recognise that we are all image bearers — stamped with the image of our Creator. So why would we want to hurt the Creator in one another — causing the same red blood as our own — to flow, don’t we all bleed the same red blood and aren’t we all just trying to find that elusive haven of peace on which to live peacefully upon the earth?

Unsurprisingly these experiences found their way into Nick’s writings, songs and films.
