Iona Arrival

This is a short poem, written and performed by Hazel L. Mathieson.

I first met Hazel in 2015 when she shared this delightful poem at the Northumbrian Community Yearly Retreat, headed up by Andy Raine of the House of John gathering.

The small island is in the Inner Hebrides off the Ross of Mull on the western coast of Scotland. It’s been the centre of Gaelic / Celtic monasticism and is renowned for its tranquillity and natural beauty and home to artists and creatives from around the globe.

Feeling inspired and armed with my GoPro camera, I hopped on a boat to capture nearby Staffa Island, with the desire to record Hazel’s heartfelt words… And here’s the result.
